Measuring human vibrations to protect health

Active occupational safety through the monitoring of human vibrations

Vibrating machines and tools generate human vibrations that can have a stressful or even harmful effect on the body. Accompanying vibration measurements monitor the accumulated vibration exposure (Vibration Dose Value, VDV) and enable a risk assessment to prevent health problems.

Human vibration monitoring includes measuring hand-arm and whole-body vibrations. This allows the use of vibrating tools and machines to be limited, preventing permanent and painful vibration-related injuries.

Human vibration monitoring assesses the exposure of individuals to mechanical vibrations. These vibrations, transmitted by various sources such as vehicles, machines, tools, and equipment, can affect the health, comfort, and safety of individuals, especially those regularly exposed to high levels of vibration in the workplace or during their daily activities.

SEMEX-EngCon provides the necessary measurement technology, enabling measurement and evaluation in accordance with the guidelines for assessing vibration exposure.

Vibration Dose Value
Vibration dose is a parameter that combines the magnitude of vibration and the time it occurs. When assessing intermittent vibrations, the Vibration Dose Value (VDV) must be used. This is a cumulative measurement of the vibration level received over a period of 8 or 16 hours.
