Development of a bridge-specific measuring system

Using the MENHIR vibration measuring device to locate and assess damage to bridges

As part of a research project, Dr. Mareike Kuppler from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) conducted fundamental work on the development of a bridge-specific measurement system. SEMEX-EngCon supported this work and successfully integrated the results into its MENHIR measuring devices. Using several wirelessly networked, synchronized MENHIR measuring devices, Dr. Kuppler was able to locate and assess damage in laboratory tests as well as on actual bridges.

This project was a highly successful collaboration between research and industry and demonstrates that SEMEX-EngCon products are also very well suited for scientific purposes.
